Combat Winter Skin with these 5 Ingredients
Much of the U.S. is suffering from brutally cold temperatures this winter and those freezing temps can wreak havoc on skin. The subzero temperature combined with hot showers and dry winds can leave your skin feeling tight and maybe even looking a little bit cracked. Looking for some relief? We’ve pulled together 5 of our favorite natural ingredients to help soothe your winter skin woes.
Beeswax: This natural skin protectant can provide a barrier that seals in moisture without clogging pores. Beeswax is especially beneficial to dry lips and it contains vitamin A which can help soften and rehydrate chapped skin.
Honey: Gotta love those bees! Raw honey is naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants. It moisturizes, protects, and can give dull skin a healthy glow! You can whip up a quick DIY mask by blending a tablespoon of honey with mashed avocado and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Cocoa Butter: This hard butter is extracted from the cocoa bean. Cocoa butter is super high in fatty acids to nourish skin deeply, keeping it soft and preventing moisture loss.
Mango Butter: This semi soft butter is made from the seeds of mangoes. Mango butter is highly emollient and can help protect and soothe damaged skin. It softens, soothes, and moisturizes which makes it an essential ingredient in our Prairie Dust bath bomb recipe.
Grapeseed Oil: This greenish oil is high in vitamin E and is easily absorbed and gentle. If your regular facial moisturizer isn’t quite doing the trick this winter try adding a few drops of grapeseed oil to protect against the dry, chilly air.
