Beat the Heat with Prairie Dust Inspired Cocktails

Summer is in full swing here in Oklahoma and the heat is turned up to the max! Instead of letting the summer heat get the best of us, we are creating refreshing spirits to quench your thirst and defeat the heat! We took advantage of summer’s fresh herbs and vegetables and created two unique cocktails inspired by Prairie Dust’s best-selling summer scents! Treat yourself at your next backyard barbeque, after a long day in the garden, on horseback, or after a summer adventure around OKC. Here are 2 of our favorite recipes! Enjoy!

The Cool Hand Cuke

4 cucumber slices

4 mint leaves

1 lime wedge

1.5 ounces vodka

4 ounces lemon lime soda

Muddle vodka, mint leaves, and lime in cocktail shaker. Add cucumber slices and shake vigorously. Pour over ice in a tall glass. Add soda. Garnish with a mint leaf and slice of cucumber.

The Ruby Rose

4 ounces grapefruit juice

½ ounce rosemary simple syrup*

2 ounces vodka

Rosemary sprigs

*Rosemary Simple Syrup

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

4 fresh rosemary sprigs

Stir together first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let stand 30 minutes. Pour liquid through a wire-mesh strainer into a cruet or airtight container, discarding rosemary sprigs. Cover and chill 4 hours. Syrup may be stored in refrigerator up to 1 month.

In a tall glass filled with ice, combine vodka, rosemary simple syrup, and grapefruit juice. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
